LSD-2 Letters-to-Editors

Readers thank us
for
this '
Digest’

.

“NAMASTE! The LightShare Digest is worth every centavo that I paid for a copy. It has kept my mind soul-searching as I ‘digest’ it.

[Exactly what we want the Digest to do – to uplift, and to cause soul-searching (going deep within) to re-member our love essence, our oneness. Thank God for its effect on you! --Editors]

I LIKED the LightShare Digest , first issue. I am now reading a copy in the ASI Library. Enjoy! I’ll buy my own copy tomorrow. I had been puzzled earlier on the differences between perception and reality. Thanks. Now I am confused which of my two eyes to believe. Ang galing n’yo talaga!

THANKS for producing such a wonderful publication as LightShare Digest.

I hope the second issue will be at least half as good as the first, which I bought at the U.P. Shopping Center. Would you please publish a complete list of outlets in your next issue? Do you have provincial outlets?

.

I am a member of the LightShare e-group, and I am interested how can one apply for membership in SanibLakas Foundation itself, that created the group. Many authors of the articles in the maiden issue were identified as members of the foundation and I want to be associated also with these distinguished persons. How can I qualify to be among them? I want to know more about your organization. How can I become a part formally of the "Synergism Community" mentioned on the cover of that first issue?

[Being a member of the LightShare e-group, as one of the more active members at that, you are already part of the “Synergism Community” we refer to on the cover. In fact we carry some of your postings in this issue. The LightShare e-Mail List Group, as well as the Lambat-Liwanag Network for Empowering Paradigms, the Katipunang DakiLahi para sa Pambansang Pagsasanib-lakas, the Advocates for Cooperative Education for Synergism (ACES), Sanib-lakas ng Inang Kalikasan (SALIKA), Sanib-Sining Movement for Synaesthetics, Consumers Coalition for Truthful Information (CCTI), and all other organizations and institutions convened and initiated by the SanibLakas ng Taongbayan.Foundation.make up Pamayanang SanibLakas. How one can become and how one can retain membership in the Foundation itself will be explained in a subsequent issue of this book magazine. This has been a FAQ — a frequently asked question. About outlets outside Manila, our outlet nearest to Dagupan is Cid Trading along Session Rd., Baguio City, and Maryknoll Ecological Sanctuary, also in Baguio. You may want to start an outlet in Dagupan. Let’s talk about it! ]

I’M Pedro "Jun" Melgar of Collegium Liberum Brotherhood. I would like to extend my congratulations to you and your group for the wonderful maiden issue of Lightshare Digest. I'll send you some of my poems and please see if it can be included in this Digest as a contribution from your readers. Regards and more power to you and your group.

[Thanks for e-mailing a whole bunch of wonderful poems after sending in your first e-mail message. You’ll see that one of these poems is carried in this issue. Keep it up!]

. THE WHOLE first issue of the LightShare Digest was really wonderful. Every single page of it. I just had to get my copy the last time I was in Manila and it was truly worth the effort locating the book store you listed in the on-line ad. My spirit resonated most strongly with the message of the back-page “ad” about touching those tiny leaves and exchanging energies with them, and as a result, magnifying those energies.

I am no longer a city-dweller because of my work, I am glad I no longer lack what Ms. De Guzman says in a quote within that “ad.” I am no admirer of quotations but that one is just great. I’m glad that my employment has been putting me in constant touch with nature, forcing me to learn how to read the behavior and even the changes in behavior of insects. I have discovered that all humans can learn much more from Nature than reading books or surfing the Net for weeks on end. I salute the LightShare Digest-- including its sections that carry quotations, because these quotes are not being used to win any arguments. Keep it up! And now that I know where the outlet is, it will be easier to get my copy of the next issue. When will that one be out?

[Each issue comes out within the last few days of the month preceding the first of the issue months,. We are interested in your experiences in “reading Nature.” Could you post such sharing in the lightshare e-group so the LightShare Digest editors can consider it for one of our forthcoming issues, perhaps even for the very next one? About quotes, you might find one article in this issue particularly interesting. – Ed.]

.
THE PAGES of the LightShare Digest, first issue, were brightened up by a profuse supply of visual elements, like photos and illustrations. I did notice, though, that except for the cover painting, the illustrators were not cited. The photographs were simple portrait shots that could have been taken in “photo-me” kiosks, but the illustrations just had to be done by artistic hands. Whether or not they were paid commensurately, it’s part of their dignity in the artistic profession to be identified! I'm quite disappointed that I still have to point this out.

[The omission is respectfully acknowledged and no excuses are offered. Thanks for pointing this out. To rectify: The inclined pencil piece at the end of the Letter from the Editors on page 5 was reproduced from the first watercolor piece done by LD associate editor Joydee C. Robledo way back in 1997. Almost all the other illustrations were done by editor Ding Reyes.]
